Sleeves and trims picked out in a second shade recall a varsity jacket, yet the hood and the zip keep this firmly in sweat-jacket territory. Black dominates at the front, light grey stripes run down each side to the hem, and the whole back is light grey.

Three shades, each given a job

The colours are not scattered about but assigned to parts: black for the front, charcoal for hood and sleeves, light grey for back, side stripes and trims. The jacket therefore stays calm despite using three shades and can be worn with plain trousers without piling things on.

Making

A metal zip runs without interruption from the hem to the base of the hood. The hood draws in through a channel with light grey cords and is faced in light grey inside. Two welt pockets at the sides take the hands.

Fabric, shape and sizes

Sweat fabric of 80% cotton and 20% polyester. The high proportion of cotton makes the inner face soft while the polyester holds the shape. The jacket is cut loosely rather than close and runs from S to XXL. It works as a mid-layer beneath a light jacket and on its own over a t-shirt.
