Berlin, large and in blackletter, with OSTDEUTSCHLAND below: this jacket puts the capital on the chest as a piece of the east. The light men's coat with its hood is meant for draughty corners, railway platforms and evenings where a jumper on its own falls short.

Material and function

Nylon accounts for the whole shell and polyester for the whole lining. The outer surface is additionally water-repellent. It fends off wind and light rain, and reaches its limit when the rain keeps going.

Berlin motif

A large ornamented B opens the word Berlin in broken type, with OSTDEUTSCHLAND beneath in bold capitals. The design is placed on the left breast; red is used on black/red, white on the plain black and on black/white. The jacket is printed in Germany.

Colours, sizes

Three versions: black, black/red, black/white. Sizes climb from S through XL to 5XL. In the red and the white versions the accent runs through cords, pullers and the hood interior.

Where it earns its place

Thin nylon over a smooth polyester lining makes one layer that stops wind without warming like a winter coat. On a platform, at the edge of a pitch, or by the canal in the evening, that is often exactly the amount of jacket missing. The elastic ribbing grips the wrist closely enough that the sleeve does not slide when an arm goes up, and the hood stays put once the cord is drawn.
