A board, three arrows and a full tankard

A dartboard hangs in the middle with its red and green beds; three arrows with coloured flights are planted in the upper rim. A tankard of beer stands in front of it on the left, filled to the top and crowned with foam. The print is black and the colour comes from the board and the drink. The board sits to the right and a little higher than the tankard, so the lettering runs round both of them along the left and the bottom. The three arrows are planted close together, their flights blue and red.

What the German line means

Word for word it reads: darts and beer, and that is my reason for being here. The sentence only takes that shape because the two halves rhyme in German.

How the words are arranged

DARTS UND sits at the top left, with BIER joining it larger alongside; DARUM comes below at the same size, and BIN ICH HIER forms the narrow closing line. All four parts tip slightly to the right and follow the curve of the board.

Where it belongs

League night, the club tournament, or the table where somebody eventually fetches the arrows out. It also works as an easy present for anyone with a board hanging on a cellar wall at home.
