Spelling lessons on a ouija board

Learning appears above in cream and your in yellow, then A, B and C follow on three black blocks tipped at different angles. A yellow ribbon at the foot carries spelling for beginners. Learning is set in a heavy serif face with your much smaller beneath it. The table is cropped at the front so that the board runs away at an angle, and the children stay dressed in beige and brown.

Learning the alphabet by getting ghosts to spell it out: a joke for anyone equally fond of horror films and old illustrations. It belongs at a Halloween party and on a film night.

The choice

Red and navy take the whole ladder of widths, the remaining three stop two steps earlier. The Frechstoff garment is ring-spun cotton throughout, short-sleeved, in a regular fit, the round neck bound with ribbing and a nape tape inside. Machine wash at 30 °C.

Dark cloth for a pale design

The print works in cream, yellow, brown and black. On dark grey and navy the pale image lies there like an open page; on red, sorbet and light blue the warm brown is drawn further into the cloth.
