On this licensed Steven Rhodes design, two children straight out of an old mail-order catalogue are at work on a wooden table: a girl on the left in a red cap, blue dress and white pinafore, a boy on the right in a blue suit with a white collar. In front of them sits a chemistry set with a flask, test tubes and something steaming, next to an open notebook. Above it all, LET'S FIND A CURE FOR appears in white serif capitals and stupid people follows in a flowing script.

The research is under way; the result is still pending. It suits anyone who despairs of the species at the office, in a queue or on the motorway, and laboratory staff with a dry turn of mind.

Dark and strong shades

The white lettering sits on red, black and navy up to 5XL, or on sorbet and dark grey up to 3XL. Frechstoff works pure ring-spun cotton into a short-sleeved garment, cut regular, with a ribbed round neck and a thirty-degree wash.

The jersey runs to 185 g/m², tubular-knitted, which leaves neither flank with a seam. Nostalgic drawing, satirical caption: the shirt is aimed at people with a taste for black humour.
