Popeye is not neatly coloured in here as he would be in a cartoon, but drawn in quick white strokes, as though somebody had tagged him on a wall. He tenses the upper arm and scowls off to one side. Small marks are stacked beside him on the left: the words Sailor Man with a crown, an anchor, arrows and a tin of spinach. Underneath, the words the Legend appear in green tag letters, with a small red mark beside them.

The shirt comes from Merchcode and is officially licensed. It is made of 100% cotton, sits in a regular fit and has a round neckline. Cotton on its own lets air through, which keeps the shirt wearable on warm days too. For care, wash inside out at 30 °C and iron on the reverse, leaving the softener out.

Reverse and making

The back of the shirt is left without print; the whole drawing stands on the front. A narrow rib encloses the neck, the short sleeves finish on the upper arm, and the hem runs out in a slight curve.

Three sizes in black

The shirt is available in S, M and XXL. Being cut straight, it does not cling, so the white strokes are not pulled out of true in wear. It suits collectors of comics, people with a soft spot for old cartoon series, and anyone who would rather carry a drawing than a logo on the chest.
