Weathered brewery sign for the festival weeks

The design looks like an old brewery sign that has seen a few summers: a dark oval with an orange ring, the colours slightly rubbed away. IT'S and SEASON are set in turquoise serif capitals, and between them Beer swings across in cream script with a brown outline. A stein with foam over the rim juts out of the frame at the top right.

When beer season starts

Strictly speaking this is an Oktoberfest shirt: the Munich festival opens in September and marquees go up across the country soon afterwards. Whoever wears it takes a looser view and counts the season from the first barbecue in spring to the mulled wine in December. It goes with leather breeches, with jeans, and with any funfair.

Five colours, one cut

Black, navy and red go as far as 5XL; yellow and sorbet, a strong pink, finish at 3XL, and all five begin at S. Frechstoff uses pure cotton, ring-spun, without side seams. Count on 185 g/m²: enough substance that the dark oval does not shadow through, enough give that the shirt still drapes. Ribbed knit at the round neck, a tape inside, regular fit (30 degrees for the machine wash).

Beyond Bavaria

Oktoberfest has long since stopped being a Bavarian affair, so the shirt gets noticed in any beer tent.
