Ripstop cargo shorts in the Urban Camo pattern

Assault Shorts are woven as ripstop, a cloth with a grid of heavier yarns laid into it that stops a small tear travelling any further. Cotton is the only fibre present, and the pattern is a grey urban camouflage that MIL-TEC calls Urban Camo. The cut is a modern one, with the legs finishing just above the knee.

Elastic inserts work at the waistband, which fastens by press stud and a YKK zip. Belt loops are broad, and one at the front carries a D-ring for clipping on a carabiner or a bunch of keys.

Six pockets

Each thigh takes a pocket divided into several sections and secured by both hook-and-loop and a zip. Alongside them sit a slash pocket on either side and, behind, two seat pockets closed with hook-and-loop. The rear pair lie beneath a flap, which keeps the contents in place as you sit down.

Sizing and where they earn their keep

Widths run S through 3XL, all of them in the one pattern; no second colourway exists. The camouflage and the pocket layout place the shorts in the same drawer as the rest of the MIL-TEC range: airsoft, fishing, work in the garden, a festival. With the D-ring at the waist, keys can be clipped on instead of carried loose in a pocket.
