Alarm clock, scoreboard, microwave: everyone knows digits built from single bars. Here those bars spell 13:12 in red, turned upright across the leg so the time reads from the side. The motif asks for nothing else; the figure carries itself.

Red figures, darker ground

Against the black pair the red reads like a lit display; on grey it settles down a little. Burgundy completes the trio, each one in the five widths that run up to 2XL.

Short and soft

Brushed within, smooth without, weighing 330 grams to the square metre: seventy per cent of the yarn is ring-spun cotton, the remaining thirty polyester. A wide rib runs round the top with flat cords for drawing the fit in. Slip pockets sit at either hip, a patch pocket behind. Five widths exist, from S through to 2XL. The same red readout appears on a bum bag in the shop. Thirty degrees in the machine is enough.
