Softshell with a balaclava hidden in the collar

From outside the Struggle looks like a plain black softshell: tall collar, hood, long zip down the front. Open the zip set into the collar and out comes a balaclava covering head and face as far as the eyes, with the hood pulled over the top. Hence the name Full Face. A printed tab bearing the brand name hangs from the collar zip.

The water-repellent outer is 100% polyester, weighs 320 g/m² and has a water column of 8000 mm. Two zipped pockets sit at the sides. The PGwear crest is carried on the chest, a brown patch on the left sleeve and a reflective print across the shoulder blade at the back. The crest on the upper arm is picked out in copper, and a cross seam shapes the hood.

Three sizes at 320 grams

The jacket comes in L, XL and XXL. At that weight it falls between a thin windcheater and a lined parka: enough for March rain and an evening in the stand, too warm for high summer. Leave the balaclava where it is and it is simply a plain black jacket that gives away nothing about what the collar holds.
