Red or white figures

With black and navy the figures appear in red, with grey and Military Green in white, each on a patch matching the hat at the front of the turn-up.

The time of day for winter

The cap bearing this design belongs to summer; the beanie takes over once it turns cold, on the way to work, at the mulled wine stall or at a Friday night fixture under floodlights. The Thinsulate lining forms a second layer inside, and if something less conspicuous is called for, the patch simply comes off.

Two layers, Thinsulate within

Pure acrylic lies on the outside, and inside a lining of 65 per cent polypropylene and 35 per cent polyester that goes under the name Thinsulate. The layers are firmly worked together, so two thicknesses sit between head and outside air without the hat building up any bulk.

One size, one swappable badge

The knit adapts from a narrow head to a broad one, which is why no size is given. And anyone who would rather not carry the time around permanently removes the badge and keeps an unremarkable winter hat.
