Defender Quartz Sand Gloves, Black Cowhide Leather

Seen from outside, the Defender passes for a plain pair of black leather gloves. What sets them apart lies underneath: a filling of quartz sand is worked in over the knuckles and across the back of the hand.

A hook-and-loop strap closes the wrist. It draws the cuff in, and one pull opens it again when the glove comes off.

Smooth cowhide

The leather is smooth cowhide, and nothing else is mixed in. Its surface is closed rather than grained or rough.

Where the filling runs

It follows the line of the finger joints and carries on over the back of the hand. The palm stays clear of it, so the inner surface is plain leather from wrist to fingertip. In the MIL-TEC range the Defender sits among the tactical gloves rather than among dress gloves.

Fit and sizing

The range runs from S up to 2XL, matching German glove sizes 7 to 11. Because of the sand filling the model comes up on the small side. Anyone falling between two sizes does better taking the larger one.
