Bratort BBQ Apron with Crosshair Print

A crosshair, a pun and a hot rack

Anyone who watches crime drama on a Sunday evening spots the quotation straight away. The scene of the crime turns into the place of frying: bratort, written in compact lower case, laid over a thin crosshair made of circles and lines. The design needs nothing more than that.

A print that starts conversations

The wordplay works without explanation the moment somebody wanders past the grill. That is why this apron so often ends up under the tree or on the birthday table, for the father who knows every episode, or for the group that meets in front of the television each weekend.

Colours

Red, royal blue, grey, black and navy take a white print, white a black one. Against the dark tones the crosshair stands out more sharply than the word itself.

The apron in detail

One size at about 67 x 78 cm, a loop for the neck and two bands 78 cm long for tying at the waist. The blended fabric puts 170 g/m² on the surface, with polyester supplying the larger share at 80 per cent and the remaining 20 per cent being cotton. A 30 °C machine wash is fine.

Why a twill weave

In a twill the threads run offset, and that is what creates the fine diagonal ribs in the cloth. The result drapes a little more softly than a flat plain weave and shows fewer creases once it has been folded away.
