Salad may come to the table, just not onto the rack. Bauch statt Lauch, belly rather than leek, sums up an attitude plenty of barbecue fans share, and Frechstoff sets it large down the bib. Two skulls flank the middle word, each wearing a chef's hat and resting on crossed knives. BAUCH and LAUCH fill the entire width, STATT stands smaller between them and shares its line with the skulls. The type is narrow, heavy and without serifs, the characters packed closely together.

Anyone able to laugh at their own waistline wears this with pride, and anyone offered vegetable skewers at the next cookout no longer has to argue the point.

Colours

Navy, grey, red, royal blue, black or white. The white version carries its print in black, every other one in white.

About the cloth

The twill weave, 80 % polyester against 20 % cotton, weighs 170 g/m². A loop goes round the neck, and at the back two bands of 78 cm do the tying. There is one size measuring about 67 by 78 cm, and a 30-degree machine wash does the apron no harm.

What the bib says

The print shows this line and the two skulls, nothing else; there is no provision for adding a personal name. The printed area sits centrally in the lower part of the bib, and the fabric above it stays clear.
