The Grillfather BBQ Apron, Six Colours

An apron for the godfather of the grill

Whoever holds the tongs makes the decisions, and that is the whole idea behind this print: The Grillfather in tall, narrow letters, with a hand above them holding a barbecue fork and a turner while a puppeteer's strings trail down. Anyone who has seen the famous mafia film gets the reference at once. Everyone else still works out who is in charge here.

Fabric colours and print

Six shades are on offer: white, black, grey, navy, red and royal blue. On the five dark and strong tones the print comes out white, and on the white apron it is black.

• twill at 170 g/m²: black is 80 per cent polyester to 20 per cent cotton, the five remaining tones 65 per cent polyester to 35 per cent cotton

Details of the motif

The word The sits top left in a serif face with a sweeping capital, while Grillfather runs underneath across the full width of the bib. Out of the fist juts a two-pronged meat fork on the left and a slotted turner on the right, and five marionette strings fall between the letters.

Occasion and wearer

At the kettle grill, at the smoker and over the Dutch oven, the dense twill keeps fat, marinade and soot off a shirt. It is meant for adult wearers, women and men alike, and weighs around 125 grams. Handed over on Father's Day, at a birthday or at Christmas, it rarely needs explaining.
